behavior rehearsal

a technique used in behavior therapy or cognitive behavior therapy for modifying or enhancing social or interpersonal skills. The therapist introduces effective interpersonal strategies or behavior patterns to be practiced and rehearsed by the client until these are ready to be used in a real-life situation. The technique is also commonly used in assertiveness training. Also called behavioral rehearsal.
