n. the severing of an axon. This type of denervation is often used in experimental studies of neurophysiology or as a model of certain diseases of the nervous system.

the study of mental experiences, including consciousness and intentionality, in nonhuman animals and of the influence of these experiences on the animals’ behavior as they interact with their natural environment.
