Archimedes spiral

a simple spiral, formed by a curve whose tangent is maintained at a constant angle. A line drawing of an Archimedes spiral is often rotated to induce a motion aftereffect. [Archimedes of Syracuse (287–212 bce), Greek philosopher and mathematician]
