anticonformity

n. a deliberate, self-conscious refusal to comply with accepted social standards, often accompanied by the expression of ideas, beliefs, or judgments that challenge those standards. Anticonformity is motivated by rebelliousness or obstinacy rather than the need to express oneself sincerely. Also called counterconformity. Compare conformity; nonconformity.

exposure deafness

loss of hearing due to prolonged exposure to loud sounds. The condition may be temporary or permanent, depending upon the loudness, length of exposure, and sound frequencies. See also auditory fatigue.
