anomic aphasia

one of eight classically identified types of aphasia, characterized by impairment in object naming (anomia) and word recognition in the absence of other significant language deficits. Conversational speech is fluent, with normal utterance length and grammatically well-formed sentences. Auditory comprehension is good for everyday conversation, but there may be some difficulty with complex syntax. Also called amnestic (or amnesic) aphasia; nominal aphasia.
