annulospiral ending

annulospiral ending

a type of nerve fiber ending in muscle spindles in which the nerve fiber is wrapped around the muscle fiber near the center of the spindle. Annulospiral endings show a maximal discharge early in the stretch of a muscle and then adapt to a lower discharge rate. Also called primary sensory ending. Compare flower-spray ending.
