aneuploidy

n. the condition in which a cell or organism has fewer or more than the normal number of chromosomes, for example (in humans), 45 or 49 instead of the normal 46. Aneuploidy is often associated with neurological or cognitive defects. See autosome. —aneuploid adj., n.
