amusia

n. loss of musical ability, usually associated with lesions in one or both of the temporal lobes. The inability to reproduce melodies is called motor (or expressive) amusia, and the inability to recognize and appreciate various characteristics of musical tones and sequences is called sensory (or receptive) amusia. The latter is also considered a type of auditory agnosia.
