amino acid imbalance

a bodily condition characterized by a deficiency of certain essential amino acids in relation to others. It may result from an inborn error of metabolism, such as phenylketonuria or homocystinuria, or be precipitated by improper diet. An amino acid imbalance may affect metabolic, neurological, and developmental processes.
