albinism

n. any of a group of genetic disorders characterized by defective pigmentation of the eyes, hair, and skin due to inadequate production or distribution of melanin pigment in the body. In addition to pigmentation abnormalities, symptoms may include strabismus (abnormal alignment of the eyes), nystagmus (involuntary rapid eye movement), refractive (focusing) errors, reduced visual acuity, and photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light).
