acute mania

the manic phase of bipolar I disorder (see bipolar disorder), characterized by an extremely unstable euphoric or irritable mood with hyperactivity, excessively rapid thought and speech, uninhibited and reckless behavior, grandiosity, and flight of ideas. See manic episode.
