vasoconstriction

vasoconstriction

n. narrowing of blood vessels, which is controlled by vasomotor nerves of the sympathetic nervous system or by such agents as vasopressin or sympathomimetic drugs. It has the effect of increasing blood pressure. See also ergot derivative.
