Usher syndrome

a genetic disorder, inherited as an autosomal recessive trait (see recessive allele), causing sensorineural deafness, deterioration of vision due to retinitis pigmentosa, and in some cases, loss of balance. [Charles Howard Usher (1865–1942), British ophthalmologist]
