any pathological condition caused by infection, injury, or a congenital defect of the spinal cord. Examples include Brown-Séquard’s syndrome, Horner’s syndrome, spinal meningitis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, and syringomyelia.
