reflex sympathetic dystrophy

reflex sympathetic dystrophy

overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system, which may occur following local injury, usually to a limb, that is associated with damage to nerves and blood vessels. It results in pain; limb disuse; shiny, thin skin; loss of hair; and bone demineralization.
