r-strategy

r-strategy

n. a reproductive strategy that involves a high rate of reproduction (r value, or r) with low parental investment. It implies that frequently producing a relatively large number of offspring is more likely to lead to reproductive success than producing a few offspring that require high levels of parental investment (see K-strategy).
