product-moment correlation coefficient

product-moment correlation coefficient

(symbol: r) an index of the degree of linear relationship between two variables. Devised by Karl Pearson, it is often known as the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (Pearson’s r) and is one of the most commonly used sample correlation coefficients.
