power transformation

power transformation

a class of transformations used to make the distribution of values on a variable more closely resemble that of a normal distribution and have more stable variance. In this approach, the obtained values are raised to some exponential quantity (e.g., squared), which preserves their original order. The Box–Cox transformation is an example of a power transformation.
