polarized membrane

polarized membrane

a membrane with a positive electrical charge on one surface and a negative charge on the other surface. All living cells maintain a potential difference across their plasma membrane—the membrane potential. In the resting condition, the outside of the membrane is positive in relation to the inside. See resting potential.
