overpayment inequity

overpayment inequity

an employee’s perception that he or she is being paid at a rate that exceeds what is fair, especially in comparison with coworkers. This can lead to dissatisfaction, tension with coworkers, and efforts to restore equity. Compare underpayment inequity. See equity theory.
