motor evoked potential

motor evoked potential

a type of evoked potential associated with motor neurons and motor cortex. For example, activity in spinal motor neurons may be studied by directly stimulating motor areas in the brain (see transcranial magnetic stimulation) and observing the evoked potential in the spinal cord. Compare sensory evoked potential.
