middle cerebral artery

middle cerebral artery

the largest branch of the internal carotid artery, running first through the lateral sulcus and then upward on the surface of the insula. Here it divides into several branches, including the anterior choroidal artery, which spread over the lateral surface of the cerebral hemispheres.
