lethal catatonia

a form of acute maniacal excitement that in some cases leads to unexplained death. Also called Bell’s mania; deadly catatonia; exhaustion death. See also hypermania. [first described in 1849 by U.S. physician Luther Vose Bell (1806–1862)]
