hyperglycemia

n. an excess of glucose in the blood. In diabetes mellitus, hyperglycemia results from a relative or absolute lack of the insulin needed to remove the excess glucose from the blood. Signs range from pain or sensory loss to failure of reflexes and coma. —hyperglycemic adj.
