hormone feedback

hormone feedback

a feedback system in which the output of hormones is regulated by other circulating hormones, which have positive or negative effects. During the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle, for example, estrogen has a positive effect on the hypothalamus, increasing the secretion of gonadotropin-releasing hormone and hence the secretion of pituitary gonadotropins, which stimulate ovulation.
