a scale used to rate level of consciousness, with five grades corresponding to confusion (Grade I), stupor (Grade II), deep stupor (Grade III), decerebrate rigidity (Grade IV), and coma (Grade V). Compare Glasgow Coma Scale. [developed in the 1970s at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia]
