gonorrhea

n. a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae (the gonococcus). The primary focus of infection is the genital tract. Untreated, gonorrhea can lead to sterility and gonococcal conjunctivitis, a serious condition that can cause blindness. See also urethritis.
