functional amblyopia

functional amblyopia

poor vision that occurs in an otherwise normal eye because of disuse or improper use of the eye during early life. Causes of functional amblyopia include strabismus, anisometropia, and sensory deprivation, when no image is allowed to reach the eye (e.g., in unilateral cataract).
