extrapyramidal dyskinesia

extrapyramidal dyskinesia

any of various distortions of voluntary movement (dyskinesias), such as tremors, spasms, tics, rigidity, or gait disturbances, associated with some lesion of the extrapyramidal tract. These dyskinesias can occur in neurological disorders or as a side effect of antipsychotic drugs, which produce such conditions as akathisia, acute dystonia, and tardive dyskinesia.
