  2. data pooling

data pooling

data pooling

combining the information from two or more studies or substudies, for example, by averaging standard deviations or variances across groups to form a single value for use in a t test or analysis of variance. Although it can be helpful to synthesize information in this way, data pooling can sometimes lead to misleading conclusions, as in Simpson’s paradox.
