1. n. a voiced or unvoiced speech sound that is produced when the vocal tract is partly or wholly constricted.

2. n. one of the letters of the alphabet used to represent these sounds in writing. Compare vowel.

3. adj. characterized by or exhibiting consonance, or harmony.
