central sulcus

central sulcus

a major cleft (see sulcus) that passes roughly vertically along the lateral surface of each cerebral hemisphere from a point beginning near the top of the cerebrum. It marks the border between the frontal lobe and the parietal lobe. Also called central fissure; fissure of Rolando; Rolandic fissure; Rolandic sulcus; sulcus centralis.
