block-design test

an intelligence subtest, found most notably on the Wechsler intelligence scales, in which the respondent is asked to use colored blocks to match a specified design. The block-design test also is utilized in the diagnosis of mental disorder and mental deterioration. See also Kohs Block Design Test.
