alcohol

n. ethanol (ethyl alcohol) or any other member of the large group of organic compounds to which ethanol belongs. Other members include methanol and isopropanol. Ethanol is the primary psychoactive agent in alcoholic drinks. Other alcohols are generally toxic if ingested.
