aggregate idea

aggregate idea

an idea that is formed by recombination of the elements of a complex stimulus (such as the set of tones of a clanging noise) into a new compound stimulus (such as a musical chord). The new, aggregate idea can be characterized by its elements but is not itself contained in those elements. [defined by Wilhelm Wundt]
